rdd-logoFebruary 2017 will be the tenth year the world has joined together to mark Rare Disease Day – and like millions around the world, we plan to join stakeholders, partners, researchers and patients and families living with a rare disease in a series of fun events, talks and activities in Cambridge and NIHR BioResource Centres / NHS Trusts across England.

Rare Disease Day takes place each year on or around the last day in February, which in 2017 will be Tuesday 28th – and this is what we have lined up:

  • Multiple activities / family-centred events at NIHR / NHS centres across England.
  • Public engagement stand at Addenbrooke’s Hospital – Tuesday 28 February, 11am-2pm. Find out more about rare diseases and how research into them can benefit everyone. Joint stand with some of our partners on the Cambridge University Hospitals Biomedical Campus.
  • Evening lecture and networking -Tuesday 28 February, 6-9pm, Judge Business School, Cambridge. Co-hosted with the Cambridge Rare Disease Network and with featured speakers Professor Stephen Jackson, Head of Cancer Research UK Laboratories, Karen Harrison from ALD LIFE, Professor Patrick Chinnery, NIHR Rare Diseases Translational Research Collaboration Co-Chair and Dr Nick Sireau, CEO of AKU Society.
