European award for RD-TRC investigator’s contribution to Ataxia research

Principal Clinical Research Associate at the UCL Institute of Neurology, Dr Paola Giunti, has been awarded best European Health Professional of the year by the European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA) for her research work in ataxia and for the creation of a bespoke service on rare ataxias.

cathalijne-paula-david-awardThe EFNA holds its neurology advocacy awards every year, to recognise the contribution of individuals or groups who develop and promote advocacy for people with neurological disorders in Europe.

Dr Giunti – who has received RD-TRC funding for her research in ataxia – was nominated for her work in the field, including the establishment of a specialist ataxia centre made in partnership with patients.

Speaking on the evening, Cathalijne van Doorne of Euro-Ataxia also commended Dr Giunti for her voluntary work with patient organisations and the wider patient community.
